The curious thing about Broadway, Sacramento’s most storied
street, is that it’s cleaved in half by a 10-lane interstate,
California Route 99.
To the west, it reaches to the Sacramento River, passing one of
the oldest cemeteries on the West Coast and running through the
city’s wealthiest neighborhoods. To the east, it stretches just
shy of the Sacramento State campus, passing through Oak Park, a
neighborhood with deep ties to Sacramento’s culture.
