Community Service Opportunities

Each Sacramento High School scholar is required to obtain 40 hours of community service each school year with a total of 160 hours upon graduation.  

Below is a list of community service opportunities for scholars to select from.

Stamp Out Hunger 2018

We are in need of volunteers at post office locations throughout Sacramento County to help unload USPS trucks filled with bags of groceries donated by the community.

5th Annual Garden Day

SFBFS’ 5th annual Garden Day is an event bringing the community and local gardening organizations and businesses together. There will be cooking and gardening demonstrations, free snacks and more! Please help us make Garden Day a success!

Volunteering with the Front Street Animal Shelter

The City of Sacramento’s Front Street Animal Shelter is always looking for volunteers who want to help our animals find their new forever homes. We couldn’t do it without our committed volunteers! You can be involved in a variety of different ways: helping with morning cleaning, the pet food pantry, training the dogs, socializing the cats, fostering animals, special projects, fundraisers and events, and much more!



Administrative Assistance
Sacramento Library Foundation

The Sacramento Library Foundation is looking for a few student volunteers to assist with their end of the year campaign. 

Projects include light office duties, stuffing envelopes, stamping envelopes and gluing envelopes.  

Available shifts: 

November 29 & 30 (3-4 hours each day)

December 27, 28 & 29 (3-4 hours each day)

January 29, 30 & 31 (3-4 hours each day)
