Local School Wellness Policy

St. HOPE Public Schools’ Local School Wellness Policy (LSWP) will be reviewed and updated during the spring of the 2016-17 school year.

This review will be conducted with input from each SHPS School Site Council. Council meetings are held quarterly and are made up of students (at the middle- and high-school levels), teachers, staff, school administrators, and parents/community members. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Please check back here for upcoming dates of Council meetings that will address the LSWP, or feel free to contact schools directly via phone. Parents can also check communication folders or fliers distributed via advisory for information about Councils. SHPS encourages interested stakeholders to participate in the development, review, update, and implementation of the Local School Wellness Policy via the School Site Councils.

In addition to Council input, in order to ensure a thorough review of the LSWP and appropriate updates, SHPS Food Services will seek participation specifically from physical education teachers, Edible Sac High, and Chartwells, its Food Service Management Company. The LSWP must also have input and approval from the school board before it can be implemented.

SHPS is in the process of conducting an assessment of the implementation of its Current LSWP in order to determine areas for targeted improvement. Check back here for the assessment once it is complete.
