Homeroom

Homeroom has two meanings here at PS7. Scholars start their day in a zero period called “homeroom.” This period is a quiet one in which scholars will finish the remainder of their breakfasts, check over their homework, read silently, and make sure once again that they have all their must-haves. Core Classes

PS7 scholars take 4 core classes and 2 electives.  Electives meet twice per week so that scholars are taking 5 classes per day.  On Wednesdays, scholars participate in an extended homeroom period at the end of the day to reflect on their academic achievement and behavior from the previous week and set goals for the upcoming week.

Lunch

Listening, being respectful, and working hard to learn new material burns up a lot of calories. At 11:45, scholars are walked to the Main Commons to enjoy a purchased school lunch or one they brought from home. We promote healthy eating habits because we believe that what they eat now will influence their health later as adults. Scholars are expected to enjoy their healthy lunch while sitting at the table, enjoying the company of friends, and chatting calmly with neighbors.

Art & P.E.

We know that our scholars are working hard in their core classes and want to make sure they also have the opportunity to move and to be creative throughout their day. All of our scholars participate in PE and Art each week. Our PE coach introduces scholars to a variety of sports, teaching them the rules and basic of each, and giving them plenty of practice.
