Shenelle Gatlin attended UC Santa Cruz where she received her BA in Business with an Emphasis in Accounting and a Minor in Economics. Upon graduation, Shenelle was recruited to work for a public accounting firm in the Silicon Valley and began a career in public accounting. Shenelle specialized in ERISA audits and corporate Financial audits. After 4 years with the firm, she became an internal accountant for Redwood Trust in Mill Valley, California. As a Senior Accountant with Redwood Trust, Shenelle gained experience producing financials for the company and managing the daily accounting transactions in conjunction with the monthly closing process. The experience with the public accounting firm and the time spent as a Senior Accountant with Redwood Trust provided a wealth of insight to various accounting processes and how to make them efficient to produce reliable and effective Financial Reports.

After 2 Years with Redwood Trust, Shenelle made a career change and taught Math at the middle School and high school level in Oakland, CA. The time spent teaching was very rewarding and enriching. As a life time learner, it was pleasant to instill good learning habits into future generations and teach them the mechanics of the mathematical language.  

After teaching for 2 years, Shenelle returned to the world of accounting. With a passion for finance and the overall accounting cycle, Shenelle returned to work in more senior positions for corporate companies. Eventually she arrived at St. HOPE where she has had the opportunity to blend her love for education with her passion for accounting and finance.
