Larry Lee, President and Publisher of The Sacramento Observer, will serve as moderator for the Sac BlkLit Book Fest. A respected leader in journalism and community storytelling, Larry has dedicated his career to amplifying Black voices and preserving the legacy of one of the nation’s most trusted Black newspapers.
Known for his thoughtful perspective and engaging presence, he brings both depth and warmth to conversations. As moderator, Larry will guide the discussion with insight and energy, ensuring a meaningful and inspiring exchange between authors and the audience.
Sheryl Lister

Sheryl Lister is an award-winning author, seasoned publisher, and champion of Black stories. With more than twenty novels and novellas to her name, she’s known for creating powerful tales of love, resilience, and joy that resonate with readers everywhere.
As the founder of her own publishing company, Sheryl has opened doors for countless storytellers to share their voices with the world. A dynamic speaker and mentor, she brings energy, wisdom, and inspiration to every stage.
Anita Gail Jones
Author
Anita Gail Jones is a visual artist, professional storyteller and writer, born and raised in Albany, Georgia and lives in Northern California.
Anita’s debut novel, The Peach Seed, set in southwest Georgia, was a 2021 Top Ten Finalist in the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction. Retha Powers at Henry Holt & Company acquired World rights from Steve Ross at Steve Ross Agency in a two-book deal.
Dr. Luke Wood
President of Sacramento State University
Dr. Luke Wood is the ninth president of Sacramento State and a nationally recognized scholar on racial equity in education. He has authored or edited 16 books and published over 200 scholarly works. Under his leadership, Sacramento State launched the nation’s first Black Honors College and innovative programs like Combat U, a collegiate pathway into boxing and mixed martial arts.
