In Loving Memory of Lisa Marie Ruda
Her Vision, Her Leadership, and a Scholarship That Will Carry It Forward
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lisa Marie Ruda who served as Superintendent of St. HOPE Public Schools since summer 2022. Despite battling health challenges, Lisa was a warrior throughout the entire process. She loved St. HOPE Public Schools – she cared immensely about our scholars, families, and staff. She led Sac High and PS7 with integrity, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose.
Lisa left a monumental mark on St. HOPE Public Schools as she was instrumental in getting the charter petitions renewed for PS7 and Sac High, securing new five year terms for both schools through 2030. She also spearheaded the renovation of PS7 Elementary on Strawberry Lane, mentored staff and scholars, and so much more.
Lisa was an experienced education leader with a strong background in school operations, legal affairs, and district administration. Before joining St. HOPE Public Schools, she held leadership positions in several large urban school districts. We are grateful for the time that we had with her in Sacramento.
The St. HOPE Public Schools Board has established a plan to support staff and scholars through the remainder of the school year and ensure a strong start to the 2025–26 academic year.
In honor of Lisa Marie Ruda, we have created a scholarship fund in her name. The “LMR Scholarship” will be awarded to a Sac High senior during graduation on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The recipient will be selected by a dedicated committee.
