Inspire U Academy Brings Summer Learning to Life for St. HOPE Scholars
This summer St. HOPE will again be hosting FREE 2-week camps for PS7 Middle School scholars to enjoy swim lessons, dancing, painting, cooking, music, STEAM activities, and more. We will also have credit recovery and academic programs for our scholars who need additional support before the next school year.
Last summer, we launched Inspire U Academy to provide a vibrant summer enrichment experience at no cost for our scholars. Whether diving into a pool for the first time or picking up a paintbrush, scholars were encouraged to express themselves, build new skills, and most importantly—have fun.
Last year, scholars in the STEAM camp participated in an egg drop challenge and built solar ovens which they used to make s’mores and nachos. Guest instructors from SMUD taught students how to build windmills and explore clean energy in action. Culinary enthusiasts in the cooking camp made dishes like omelets, Mediterranean chicken and rice, and fresh salads, while young musicians found their rhythm in drumline camp.
8th-grade scholar Vondell Owens participated in the camps last summer and shared, “I learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and the teachers are amazing. My favorite part was art because I learned how to use value and shading.”
As we look ahead to our second annual Inspire U Academy this summer, we’re excited to build on this success and continue offering enriching and fun activities that empower our scholars to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Click here to see a video about the Inspire U Academy.
