Celebrating Black Excellence All Month Long
President's Message - 02.10.26
This year we celebrate the 100 year anniversary of Black History week celebration and the 50th Anniversary of Black History Month. The same intentionality of Dr. Carter Woodson in 1926 and the declaration of Black Month by President Jimmy Carter in 1976 should continue in our hearts and actions today.
This month we invite our community to come together to honor the achievements, culture, and contributions of African Americans throughout history. We are hosting a series of events that celebrate diversity and shine a spotlight on Black leaders, artists, and changemakers – past and present. From film screenings to financial literacy events, these gatherings are designed to connect and empower our community. We have an exciting line up of events all month long – below are just a few. You can see the full list at sthope.org.
I hope that you will join us for the educational opportunities and entertaining events this month and all year long as conversations about history and social justice do not stop at the end of Black History Month. Now more than ever we need to participate, listen, lean in, and build a strong future together.
In community,
Cassandra H.B. Jennings
