Author Talk Featuring Jordan Robinson’s “Court Queens”
The WNBA has shattered attendance, viewership and sponsorship records over the past two years, drawing massive numbers as it’s increased its cultural footprint. For sports journalists and superfans like Emma Baccellieri and Jordan Robinson, it’s about time. They’ve created a stunning tribute to the women who’ve made the sport what it is today, both the well-known stars and the lesser-known heroes who didn’t always get the shine they deserved.
COURT QUEENS: Celebrate the Players, Teams, and History of Women’s Basketball is a beautifully designed, full-color tour through the history of women’s basketball, from Senda Berenson, a former invalid who introduced basketball to women for the first time in 1892 (they played in hoop skirts!), through the birth of organized women’s college basketball in the 1970s, and right on up to the recent explosion in popularity of the WNBA.
