You may have seen a mailer being distributed by the Sacramento City Teachers Association Political Action Committee that includes the name and photo of a St. HOPE teacher and could be interpreted to incorrectly imply that St. HOPE has endorsed Lavinia Grace Philips for the Sacramento City School Board race. To be clear, as a nonprofit 501c3, St. HOPE is prohibited from participating in any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for elected public office. St. HOPE Academy and St. HOPE Public Schools have not endorsed Lavinia Philips. While individuals may take their own positions on election issues, this mailer is misleading and this individual teacher’s position does not speak on behalf of St. HOPE as an organization.
