From Graduations to Juneteenth: St. HOPE Celebrates Milestones and Icons!
President's Message - June 9, 2026
What an exciting few weeks it has been! We hosted an author talk with acclaimed writer Walter Mosley at a sold out event at the Guild Theater where he discussed his latest novel Ghalen: A Romance in Black . The discussion was a unique hybrid event that was streamed to 30 Black-owned bookstores nationwide and was available for virtual viewers at home. We were excited to have such wonderful national reach! Read the Q & A with Walter in the Sacramento Observer and view the video of the event here.
St. HOPE Public Schools also celebrated the promotion of its Kindergartners and 5th graders as well as the graduation of Class of 2026 Sac High Seniors. It was a terrific week of celebration, reflection, and achievement as scholars reached important milestones in their educational journeys. Families, teachers, and staff came together to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and growth of each scholar while looking ahead with excitement to the opportunities that await them. Congratulations to all of the promoting and graduating scholars on all of their accomplishments.
The fun never stops as we are now preparing for another sold out Author Talk with Major League Baseball Legend Dusty Baker on Monday, June 15 and our 6th Annual Juneteenth Block Party @ 40 Acres event on Saturday, June 20 from 4-9pm. Hope to see you there!
