Student Spotlight: Rayonna Thompson, ASB President

Article

Meet “Ray” this year’s Sac High ASB President and Student Representative to the SHPS Board of Directors.

How long have you been at St. HOPE?

This is my fourth year. My sister went to PS7 and that’s when Sac High really caught my attention. The schools are not for everyone, but the focus on A-G requirements at Sac High really excited me and got me thinking about life after high school.

Why did you want to be the ASB President?

My older sister was really my inspiration behind the dream. She was the President at Hiram Johnson when I was younger. She used to babysit me a lot and I remember going with her on weekends to the school to help out. When I was in 5th grade, I knew this was something I wanted to do. I joined Senate when I came to Sac High and enjoyed helping with dances. I remember telling Takarra Johnson, ASB president at the time, that when I was a senior, I’d be doing what she was doing.

What are you most excited about for this year?

Meeting new students, events, homecoming and prom, but I am most excited about the senior trips. I’ve never been to Disneyland. It should be interesting. I’d like to build more relationship with my class. Graduating…I can’t believe it’s here!

What’s one big thing you want to do this year as ASB President?

Make sure every grade level has the best year ever! I want this to be a year to remember and stand out among the others for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors!

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I am a College Track member, part of the Zero Tolerance Club, and the girls’ basketball team manager.I run track and field, and plan on running cross-country this year.

Where do you want to go to college?

Hampton, Howard, NYU, or Virginia State. I want to study psychology, pre-med, or bio-med.

What’s your favorite song?

“Me Too” by Megan Traino
