As part of Black History Month at the 40 Acres Complex, the Guild Theater presents a screening of One Night in Miami… as part of the Black Cinema Film Series.
Set during a pivotal evening in 1964, the film imagines an intimate conversation between Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown as they reflect on fame, faith, responsibility, and the role of Black leadership during a critical moment in American history. Through powerful dialogue and thoughtful storytelling, the film explores the intersections of culture, activism, and identity.

Underground Books, in partnership with Jack & Jill of America, Inc., invites families to the Readers Are Leaders Children’s Book Giveaway.
This free community event celebrates literacy and encourages a love of reading among young people. Children who attend will be able to choose a book of their own, helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a personal connection to reading. Our goal is for every child to leave with a book that sparks imagination and inspires a lifelong love of learning.
Join us at Underground Books for an afternoon focused on youth, education, and community. When children read, they lead.

Join us for an in person author talk and book signing with award winning journalist Char Adams. Char will share insights from her new book Black-Owned The Revolutionary Life of the Black Bookstore and talk about the important role Black bookstores have played in shaping culture community and activism. She will also discuss her research and writing process and what these spaces mean today. The evening will wrap up with a book signing and a chance to meet the author.

The Mother Rose Giving Tree is a community-driven holiday initiative at Underground Books that invites customers to give the gift of reading. Shoppers can support the program by purchasing books and gift items in-store, online from the Mother Rose Giving Tree book list, or by calling the store to place an order. All donated items are placed in the Giving Tree basket and shared with those in need, continuing Mother Rose’s legacy of literacy, love, and community care.
