Preserving Legacy Through Literacy: Uplifting Community Through Knowledge
President's Message - 01.15.26

Post

Through stories, history, and shared wisdom, we honor those who came before us and equip our youth with tools to think critically, dream boldly, and lead with purpose. Mother Rose embraced this as she believed that literacy and learning are pathways to empowerment. Sharing Mother Rose’s cherished collection of books is not only a tribute to her deep love for reading, but a reminder that when we read, we remember. And when we remember, we build a stronger future as knowledge has the power to uplift individuals and communities.

Please check out the fabulous collection of books and novelty items at Underground Books. In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words, “It is our responsibility to support and strengthen Black institutions,” and Underground Books are certainly a cultural asset that enriches our entire community. As we commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. it is important to not only celebrate Black voices but ensure that we are investing in learning so that culture, history, and self-determination continue to thrive.

In community,
