Increasing College Exposure for SHPS Scholars

Pipeline Newsletter

We are proud to partner with St. HOPE Public Schools to coordinate a weeklong trip for Sac High seniors to visit several Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The trip includes cultural excursions, museum outings, and visits to Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College, Alabama State University, and Tuskegee University culminating with Tuskegee’s annual Homecoming  celebration and football game.

This type of collaboration allows us to expand real-world learning experiences and cultural opportunities for Sac High scholars and is a great example of how schools and community partners can work together to broaden horizons for students.

St. HOPE Academy also coordinated a trip for 30 Sac High scholars to attend a HBCU College Fair in Fairfield. We are thrilled to report that Sac High scholars received 69 acceptances on the spot and were offered $204,000 in scholarships.

These types of collaboration enable us to expand real-world learning experiences and cultural opportunities for Sac High scholars and help them see college as a reality. These events are  great examples of how schools and community partners can work together to broaden horizons for students.
