This past weekend, over 160 community members attended the The Sac BlkLit Book Fest which brought together Black authors, readers, and publishing professionals to celebrate literature, culture, and community empowerment. Attendees heard from bestselling authors, publishers, and leadership experts about the power of storytelling. The speakers inspired guests with their insight on how to build a life of clarity, purpose, and impact and how to remain resilient through the most challenging times. The speakers also shared practical tips for aspiring authors and Sac State President Luke Wood and UC Davis Chancellor Gary May shared isights about their commitment to Black students as well as a pledge to contribute a combined $200K to the newly formed National Association of Black Bookstores.

The event culminated with a special VIP reception that provided an intimate opportunity to connect with featured guests. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this celebration of Black literature and literacy – it was an inspiring day filled with meaningful conversations, education, and cultural exchange.
