Fellowships
This highly selective and intensive program draws recent college and graduate students from all over the nation to live and work in the inner city for one year. Fellows gain first-hand experience in the complex issues facing America's urban cities, refine their professional talents and cultivate leadership skills.
The specifics:
- Between the ages of 21-26 years old
- College graduates and graduate students
- Term of service: 1 year / 2,000 hours
- Desire for professional development training
- Seeking high level civic leadership experience in the following areas:
- Education
- The Arts
- Business Management
- Looking to relocate for a year to Sacramento, California (future cities include New York, Washington D.C., and Chicago)
- Able and excited to live with other Hood Corps Fellows in studio apartments
- A strong work ethic and desire to put others before yourself
- Will and discipline to run a marathon
- Passion to mentor youth
Internships
Similar to the Fellowship program, internships are for college students who want to gain valuable work experience and clarify their career goals while experiencing first-hand the critical issues facing urban communities. Interns may serve for a summer, semester or a year.
The specifics:
- Between the ages of 17-26 years old
- High school graduates
- Term of service: 3 months to 1 year / 300-2,000 hours
- Improve your leadership abilities
- Must have a can do attitude
- Gain hands-on work experience
- Solve real-life urban issues
Apprenticeships
St. HOPE strongly believes that civic responsibility should be cultivated at an early age. The Apprenticeship program provides high school students who are 17 years and older with an extreme service learning experience designed to instill an ethic of lifelong service and grow young leaders committed to giving back to their communities.
The specifics:
- Between the ages of 17-18 years old
- High school students
- Term of service: 1 year / 500 hours
- A desire to gain applicable skills for college
- A heart for impacting your community
